Duties: Research, design, develop, and analyze products using thermal-mechanical analysis codes. Maintain codes and create automation scripts. Create analytical models of engineering designs or methods. Develop or test models of alternate designs or methods to assess feasibility, sustainability, operating condition effects, potential new applications, or necessity of modification. Design or redesign mechanical and thermal products using analysis and computer-aided design. Evaluate mechanical designs for performance or environmental impact. Investigate product failures and resolve design or operational problems.
Requirements: Employer will accept a Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Engineering, Mathematics, or related field and one year of experience in the job offered, or one year of experience in a related occupation. Experience with the following skills required through academic coursework and/or work experience: (1) Development of mathematical materials models; (2) Mechanics of materials; (3) Fluid mechanics; (4) Dynamics; (5) Continuum mechanics; (6) Statistical analysis; (7) Applied probability; (8) Analysis of variance; (9) Molecular dynamic simulation; (10) Numerical methods; (11) Simulation methods, including Monte Carlo; (12) Time-stepping methods; (13) Optimization; (14) Parallel programming; (15) Programming with FORTRAN, MATLAB, C, and R; (16) Document preparation with LaTex and Microsoft Office; and, (17) Materials Science.
